POKOTABI / Bee
Bee
Bee is an authentic bar in Higashi-Mukojima pairing whiskies, cocktails, and curated sake with Chinese bar bites such as steamed shumai and crispy scorched rice.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
At the counter of this classic, atmospheric bar, you can pair your drink with steaming shumai dumplings or aromatic crisped rice. Quietly tucked away in Higashi-Mukojima, Bee offers a distinctive, comfortable space that seamlessly combines an extensive drinks list with authentic Chinese cooking. Guests can chat with the bartender to select a preferred whisky, highball, or seasonal cocktail, accompanied by a satisfying order of dim sum.
Reaching well beyond standard pub fare, the food menu highlights Chinese dishes shaped by the owner’s family background in running a Chinese restaurant. Savory, flavorful shumai, spring rolls, and boiled dumplings are bar favorites, while crispy deep-fried scorched rice is a popular choice for rounding off a meal. Western-style small plates are also on hand—from domestic A5 Yamagata beef jerky and sausage platters to figs simmered in red wine and pickles—making it easy to tailor pairings to the evening's mood.
The back bar is richly stocked with Scotch and Japanese whiskies, served carefully over hand-carved ice spheres when ordered on the rocks. Alongside fresh fruit cocktails like a Jack Rose made with fresh pomegranate, the drinks list notably features distinctive regional sake, including Shichihonyari Junmai Kassei Nigori, Banshu Ikkon, and Kamonishiki. Set beneath calm, understated lighting, the venue serves equally well as a quiet sanctuary for a solo nightcap or an inviting destination for late-night bites with good conversation.
